چکیده

Anticancer drugs A series of monoand dinuclear (η-arene) ruthenium(II) complexes were prepared by reaction of thiosemicarbazone ligands derived from benzaldehyde and ruthenium(II) precursors of the general formula [Ru(η-arene)(μ-Cl)Cl]2, where arene=p-PrC6H4Me or C6H5C3H6COOH. These complexes were characterized by NMR and IR spectroscopy, ESI-mass spectrometry and elemental analysis. The molecular structure of the mononuclear p-cymene complex was determined by X-ray diffraction analysis, revealing a pseudotetrahedral piano stool conformation and a bidentate N,S coordination mode of the thiosemicarbazone ligand. The complexes and ligands were evaluated for their in vitro cytotoxicity against the WHCO1 oesophageal cancer cell line.

Synthesis and characterization of mono- and heterodinuclear complexes of dinucleating macrocyclic ligand bearing hexa- and pentadentate coordination sites

Macrocyclic heterobinuclear Zn(II)–Cu(II) complexes with phenol based dicompartmental ligands possessing contiguous hexa- and penta-coordination sites were prepared by a stepwise procedure. The ligands include similar N4O2 and dissimilar N(imine)3O2 and N(amine)3O2 coordination sites sharing two phenolic oxygen atoms. The six-coordination site comprises two pyridyl pendant arms on the amine nit...

Influence of the Spacer Length on the in Vitro Anticancer Activity of Dinuclear Ruthenium-Arene Compounds

Water-soluble dinuclear Ru-arene complexes were synthesized and found to exert promising cytotoxic effects in human cancer cells, which could be increased to an IC50 of 0.29 μM by increasing the spacer length between the metal centers. Cytotoxicity could be correlated with lipophilicity (log P Values) and water solubility. The most potent dinuclear compound, 1,12bis{chlorido[3-(oxo-κO)-2-methyl...

New dinuclear ruthenium arene complexes containing thiosemicarbazone ligands: synthesis, structure and cytotoxic studies.

A series of mononuclear ruthenium arene complexes with thiosemicarbazone (TSC) ligands (A-type, 1-8) and their corresponding di-nuclear analogues (B-type, 9-16) were synthesized and characterized by NMR, elemental analysis and HR-ESI-mass spectrometry. The molecular structures of 1, 2, 6, 9-11 and 13-16 were determined using single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The Gibbs free energy of th...

New mono and dinuclear arene ruthenium chloro complexes containing ester substituents

The dinuclear arene ruthenium complexes [RuCl2{C6H5(CH2)3OCO-p-C6H4-OC8H17}]2 (1) and [RuCl2{p-C6H4(CH2COOCH CH3)2}]2 (2) have been obtained by dehydrogenation of the corresponding cyclohexadiene derivative with ruthenium chloride hydrat The single-crystal X-ray structure analysis of 2 shows the arene ligands to be involved in slipped-parallel p–p stacking interactions wit neighbouring molecule...
